National
Poison Prevention Week (NPPW)
In September 1961, Public Law 87-139; 75 Stat. 681
(H. J. Res. 358) was passed authorizing the
President of the United States to issue annually a
proclamation designating the third week of March as
NPPW.
During
NPPW, the Georgia
Poison Center (GPC) and other organizations around the
nation coordinate activities to increase awareness
of the dangers of unintentional poisoning.
In
Celebration of National Poison Prevention Week,
March15-21, 2009,
the GPC in collaboration with the National Poison
Prevention Week Council is hosting a Poison
Prevention Poster Contest. Parents and
educators of Georgia students grades K-5th who want
their children/students to enter the contest should
contact the GPC Education Department at 404-616-9235
for more details.
