National
Poison Prevention Week (NPPW)
In September 1961, Public Law 87-139; 75 Stat. 681
(H. J. Res. 358) was passed authorizing the
President of the United States to issue annually a
proclamation designating the third week of March as
National Poison Prevention Week (NPPW). During
NPPW, the GPC and other organizations around the
nation coordinate activities to increase awareness
of the dangers of unintentional poisoning.
