Instructor Training Program (ITP)

The Poison Prevention Instructor Training Program (ITP) is a program designed to train safety advocates to teach poison prevention to children and adults in Georgia. The goal of the ITP is to increase the number of Georgians who have the knowledge and skills to prevent and manage unintentional poisoning.

Upon completion of the three-hour training session, participants will be equipped with information and resources needed to educate their communities about poison prevention.

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify common household poisons

  • Identify risk factors associated with poisoning

  • Describe poison prevention strategies

  • Identify poison prevention resources available from the Georgia Poison Center

  • Understand the appropriate response in poison emergencies

  • Promote awareness of the Georgia Poison Center and its services

  • Conduct poison prevention programs for children and adults

Who Should Attend?

SAFE KIDS Coalition members, child safety advocates, nurses, pharmacists, health educators, child care providers, and public safety professionals are invited to attend the training.
