Training Program (ITP)
The Poison Prevention Instructor Training Program
(ITP)
is a program designed to train safety advocates to
teach poison prevention to children and adults in
Georgia.
The goal of the
ITP is to increase the number of
Georgians who have the knowledge and skills to
prevent and manage unintentional poisoning.
Upon completion of the three-hour training session,
participants will be equipped with information and
resources needed to educate their communities about
poison prevention.
Participants will be able to:

Identify common household poisons
-
Identify risk factors associated with poisoning
-
Describe poison prevention strategies
-
Identify poison prevention resources available
from the Georgia Poison Center
-
Understand the appropriate response in poison
emergencies
-
Promote awareness of the Georgia Poison Center
and its services

Conduct poison prevention programs for children
and adults
Who Should Attend?
SAFE KIDS Coalition members, child safety advocates,
nurses, pharmacists, health educators, child care
providers, and public safety professionals are
invited to attend the training.
Host Agencies
The Georgia Poison Center (GPC) collaborates with
community organizations, including SAFE KIDS
coalitions, hospitals, retail pharmacists, and
public safety agencies to host training sessions
throughout Georgia.
