Q: Is there more than one Poison Center in Georgia?
A:
No. The GPC, located in Atlanta, is the official poison center of the state. The GPC is certified by the American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC).

Q: Can I call the Georgia Poison Center if I just have a question, not a poison emergency?
A:
Yes! The GPC can answer most questions about potentially poisonous substances.

Q: Who staffs the emergency phone lines?
A:
The 24 hour phone lines are answered by highly trained Specialists in Poison Information (SPIs), mostly registered nurses and pharmacists, and Poison Information Providers (PIPs). Most of the SPIs have continued their studies and completed the AAPCC certification exam to become Certified Specialists in Poison Information (CSPIs) In addition, five board certified toxicologists are on staff for additional back-up.
